As a collective marketing organisation, everything British Wool does is about adding value to our members’ wool.
Our system of collecting, grading and testing British wool adds value by providing a high quality, consistent product to customers. A product we should all be proud of.
Promoting British wool is essential if we are to maximise the price of the wool we sell.
Our marketing activities help to create sustainable demand for British wool through a two-pronged approach:
Supporting manufacturers and brands that buy British wool to make their products.
Building consumer demand for British wool rich products.
As a member of British Wool, you play a crucial part in delivering our shared mission.
What happens to your wool?
Wool from our members is graded at one of our depots. Individual clips are amalgamated to create commercial graded lots for sale by auction, which ensures a regular supply of large weights of wool of uniform type and quality for the international textile industry.
Here’s a few points to remember when sending your wool to us:
Pack
Pack your wool sheet full – this will mean that your transport costs less.
Transport

Reduce Vulnerability
Send your wool into us as soon as it is shorn – storing it means you risk exposing it to damp conditions or damage, which will decrease its value
